new favorite song!



Sophmore albums are the most difficult for any artist so when Estelle's All of Me



 dropped last week I was curious to see how she would follow-up from her 2008 Shine album.

I fell in love with the first single Break My Heart and after listening to the album I have found my favorite song of the week.

Now we all know I have a Trey Songz obsession...so this one may be biased lol! But I love Estelle's delivery and Trey hits us with his melodic precision in the form of rap on this track. Also featuring Chris Brown who I think just brings magic to music! AND produced by David Banner! Its called International (Serious)

How did the Cookie Crumble? My take on Empire

The show Empire premiered tonight on Fox. It stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. Terrence plays a music mogul Lucious working to build an Empire/Legacy for his children while being troubled by the transgressions of his past one of which, is Taraji's character, Cookie, his ex-wife being released from jail after doing 17 years on his behalf. He also struggles with the present state of his health ( btw please no ice bucket challenges for fictional characters! he has ALS), which is the driving force behind his ambition of creating a legacy for Empire. Veronika Bozeman gave us the opening vocals as an Empire Artist, and boy was it beautiful, even when she was made to sing it over! I found the show to be entertaining although I couldn't help but feel like it was a continuation of the movie Hustle Flow lol. I kid. Kind of, I think it was Terrence Howard's hair! Single Mom Travels (it's kind of a long read, so grab a snack!)

Well Hello There Readers! I've been on a writing hiatus but I've got the sudden urge to blog. A few weeks ago I was hanging out with my son and realized that as far as I'm concerned we have a pretty unique experience in terms of the way we go throughout our daily lives. I realize there's this stigma that as a single parent life becomes so limited and in many aspects this has proven true. However, I've also discovered my own ways to live and provide my child with a happy fulfilling life. There is nothing that can truly distract my child from the absence of his father, but as his mother I've vowed to make his childhood experiences as meaningful as possible in the hopes of presenting to society a well rounded, open minded, curious, fearless, adult. With all that being said, traveling alone and/or with your child are one of those single parent stigmas I was talking about.
