new entry on my favorite things list: Monoi via Carol's Daughter...its like hair crack!




If you haven't noticed I'm pretty open minded to trying new things. I don't know why but there was always an intimidation factor when it came to Carol's Daughter and their products. Maybe its their beige labeling that just reads....'SPENSIVE...yup 'SPENSIVE lol.

Well I'm finally a believer. I took a walk on the wild side and looked into their products. Since I've been wearing my own hair with a twist of weave incorporated I wanted some product that would make my press last longer and make my hair look healthy and blend with my silky straight tracks.

I went for their repair/damage system because I put my hair through so much. It contains Monoi Oil, and the treatment is actually called Monoi (http://www.carolsdaughter.com/Portal.aspx?CN=A0F2985885DB&BCID=419AE9DFBCA7) . Can we say HAIRCRACK! My hair was sooooooo soft! Un-believable this stuff is!

I got the three piece starter system that comes with shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask. It costs $24 bucks. It was on the minature side for me because I'm an overshampoo-er. But I think you can get about 3 good uses out of it. I'm giving the rest to my mom but I will be visitng the Fox Hills Carol's Daughter store to re-up! Its good product and worth the price.

I also have a friend with ultra thick hair who's transitioning from a relaxer. I mean her hair is beyond thick!I recommended the transitioning- straight system which I think I'm going to switch over to. The show Empire premiered tonight on Fox. It stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. Terrence plays a music mogul Lucious working to build an Empire/Legacy for his children while being troubled by the transgressions of his past one of which, is Taraji's character, Cookie, his ex-wife being released from jail after doing 17 years on his behalf. He also struggles with the present state of his health ( btw please no ice bucket challenges for fictional characters! he has ALS), which is the driving force behind his ambition of creating a legacy for Empire. Single Mom Travels (it's kind of a long read, so grab a snack!)

Well Hello There Readers! I've been on a writing hiatus but I've got the sudden urge to blog. A few weeks ago I was hanging out with my son and realized that as far as I'm concerned we have a pretty unique experience in terms of the way we go throughout our daily lives. I realize there's this stigma that as a single parent life becomes so limited and in many aspects this has proven true. However, I've also discovered my own ways to live and provide my child with a happy fulfilling life. There is nothing that can truly distract my child from the absence of his father, but as his mother I've vowed to make his childhood experiences as meaningful as possible in the hopes of presenting to society a well rounded, open minded, curious, fearless, adult. With all that being said, traveling alone and/or with your child are one of those single parent stigmas I was talking about. We Heard, We Saw, We Conquered: The September Lookback

    Hey HairyKat's , (please excuse any typos.) Can you believe the year is almost done? It went by so quickly. September just seemed to breeze by just as fast and I tried to enjoy every second of it. September was quite entertaining, literally. Here's the rundown.  Purple Rain presented by Cinespia: Hollywood Forever Cemetery I started the month celebrating my good friend and Kat Kreation's( www.katkreate.com ) photographer Bianca's 30th birthday by attending a screening of Purple Rain at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery hosted by Cinespia. It was probably the coolest and creepiest event I've ever attended. There is a huge lawn dedicated to film screening filled with patron's openly enjoying picnic baskets of wine, cheese, and everything in between along with some of Hollywood's late and great spirits, like Toto the dog from the Wizard of Oz.
